I think one of the biggest problems in business today is the way people put themselves in the "specialist" box. Yes, expertise is crucial, but the way people build their own walls, creating their own individual "micro-silos" kills the interaction and integration that makes the larger project a success. There are exceptions to this trend, of course. And one of them is Katharine McMahon. She has the valuable ability to focus not just on the strategic "big picture," but also on the granular details to make sure that everything comes together. I've hired Katharine as a supplier many times and, given the opportunity, I'd hire her as a full-time employee without hesitation. Every company, every project needs someone who can see it all. Don't hire another "specialist" who insulates themselves. Hire Katharine and get things done.
